Paragon Audiology is Looking for Outstanding People with Hearing Loss from Sheboygan County for National Awards Program

Do you know someone with a hearing loss who is a role model for others?  Tracey Aukerman of Paragon Audiology is seeking outstanding individuals from Sheboygan County with any degree of hearing loss to nominate for the 2008 Oticon Focus on People Awards.  Created by hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, Inc., the national awards program honors the people with hearing loss who make a difference in their schools, communities or the world.  For Tracey, the program is an excellent way to demonstrate that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to make a difference in their families, their communities or the world.

The Oticon focus on People Awards offers awards and prizes in three categories for people with hearing loss: Student- for young people with hearing loss ages 6-21 who are full time students; Adults with hearing loss, ages 21 and above; Advocacy, for adults ages 21 and above with hearing loss who volunteer their time in advocacy or support efforts for the hard-of-hearing and deaf community.  Two special awards are presented to hearing care professionals in general and pediatric practice who have worked to change negative perceptions of hearing loss.

Prizes are awarded to the top three nominees in each category.  First prize is $1000 and a $1000 donation from Oticon to the winner’s favorite charity; seconde prize is $500 and third prize is $250.  All nominees receive a Certificate of Recognition.

We encourage anyone who knows of an outstanding person with hearing loss to contact us or stop in for a nomination form.

Deadline for nominations is September 8, 2008 and winners will be announced in October.
